SUMMER FEEDING PROGRAM
We will be providing food to any student (ages 0-18 or up to 26 with a disability) two (2) meals per day, seven (7) days per week. The meals may be picked up Monday, Wednesday and Friday (August 26 - September 18) at Jefferson Elementary, Twin Rivers Elementary and Ionia High School from 10am - 12pm. Meals will be served in a “grab and go” format.
Here is how it will work:
Parents will be able to pull up in their cars, as if they were dropping their student off for school. We
will have a staff member ready to help. The staff will ask, “how many children are we feeding?" If
the parent says, “I have five (5) kids,” we will then give them enough meals for each of the five (5)
children. So, we give that parent enough complete breakfasts and complete lunches for the
allotted days. They will take a breakfast and lunch at the same time. During Monday
pickups we will provide meals for Monday and Tuesday. During Wednesday pickups we will
provide meals for Wednesday and Thursday. On Fridays, we will distribute meals to cover Friday,
Saturday and Sunday.
We will be using a tally system to track numbers, and do not need any names. Students do not have
to attend Ionia Public Schools as our goal is to feed children, no matter what school they
attend. Meals are free to all students. No questions asked, no ID required, no proof of residency
needed. Again, meals are free to all children.
We understand that parents still have to work and some students may not have an adult to bring
them or to pick up their food. Students (with parent permission) are still able to walk, bike, etc... to
pick up their breakfast and lunch each day.
Pick-Times will be (Monday, Wednesday & Friday) through September 18th:
Breakfast AND Lunch: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
